The online betting community is curious to see how the Floyd "Pretty Boy" Mayweather versus Juan Maneul Marquez fight plays out on a number of levels. On one hand, there is the fight itself and the return of Mayweather from retirement. On the other hand, there is the fact that boxing will for the first time go head-to-head with UFC as UFC 103, Belfort-Franklin on the same day (September 19th).
There has been some friction between the two sports this year and even though most people betting in their offshore sportsbook will find a way to watch both fights, it's a really big statement to see which one wins out. For boxing, Mayweather Jr. is arguably their biggest draw and when you compare it to the UFC card, there really is much to compare with. Rich Franklin is a so-so fighter while Vitor Belfort is back in the UFC after fighting in other leagues over the last couple of years. It isn't exactly Brock Lesnar versus Frank Mir.
For boxing, they can't lose this fight - pun intended. Not a single sports betting blog would pick UFC to have the higher ratings and if it did, it would be a huge upset. It would also signal that boxing is truly on the decline.
Just as badly as boxing can't lose this fight in the ratings, they can't have their superstar, "Money" Mayweather lose this fight in the ring either. Don't get it twisted: while Marquez is a good figther, he's not the reason people are buying pay-per-views next weekend. This fight will truly be about Mayweather and beyond that, it will be a precursor for Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao in early 2010.
Mayweather has a few advantages in this fight, including size, which isn't typically something that's on his side. Mayweather is still lightning fast and is still untouchable, but he will also have a better chance to hurt Marquez because he is the bigger fighter.
Sports betting system picks all have Mayweather listed and the sportsbooks have set up a huge line in favor of Mayweather, which obviously gives the impression that they don't believe Marquez can win. It should be a very interesting fight on September 19th between Mayweather and Marquez, and between boxing and UFC. Make sure you tune in.

PBF vs JMM is on!
On July 18, Floyd “Mainstream Money” Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez meet on a PPV card billed as “Number One/Numero Uno” at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The bout was officially announced today. “Credentials don’t lie and the record speaks for itself,” said Mayweather. “When it comes to July 18, I don’t need to tell you what I’m going to do. A small man will never retire me. I’m here to stay. I’m here to fight and reclaim what’s mine. I’m the king and nobody has taken my throne. Tonight, any man can win. Its a gamble. But when you are betting on Floyd, that’s for sure money. Keep your money under your mattress until July 18.” Marquez countered, “If I want to be the best fighter in the world and I need to beat the best. The best fighter is Floyd Mayweather. This fight is for who is the #1 fighter in the world.” Promoter Oscar de la Hoya commented “Can we believe that now the bigger man is always going to win? When I fought Floyd it was competitive. When I fought Manny he stopped me. When Juan fought Manny - I don’t care what they say - Juan beat him. So I believe Juan can beat Mayweather. Marquez can never be counted out.” Mayweather manager Leonard Ellerbe proclaimed “The king is back! Floyd has truly transcended the sport. Wherever he goes - the malls, the grocery stores, even the strip clubs - they all ask ‘when is Floyd coming back?.’”
